The Yamalube Story

When Yamaha started making engines, the engineers followed the common practice recommending “off-the-shelf” oils. While these conventional oils could be purchased anywhere, experience began showing that they didn’t always offer the level of protection against wear and tear the customer paid for. Unfortunately, that sometimes resulted in significantly shorter engine life. It became clear that our customers needed and deserved an exceptional oil product. This same engineering team began searching for lubricants which met Yamaha’s high standards. They insisted on the finest ingredients in presice formulations that would give dependable protection and enable the engine to deliver the high performance it was designed to give. This search eventually led to the development of our own premium oils – Yamalube.

What is Oil?
Oil is a blend of different ingredients. The right blend, or formulation will produce certain desirable characteristics. Which characteristics are desirable is determined by the application for the oil.

Whatever the application, however, all engine lubricants have certain primary ingredients:

Base Oil provides the lubricating properties of oil.

Additives enhance the base oil’s performance characteristics or provide additional properties, such as cleaning away deposits from composition chambers and piston ring lands.

Solvent is used in 2-cycle oil formulas to promote mixing of the oil with the gasoline.

What is Yamalube?
Each Yamalube oil is made from base oils, additives, and solvents in combinations specific for the application. for example, the additive package for Yamalube 2-M outboard oil is very different from our Yamalube 2-R for motocross motorcycles, even though both are liquid-cooled 2-stroke engines. These two engine types have different stress loads, with the outboard often operating for extended periods under heavy load while the motocross engine is subjected to frequent bursts of throttle under extreme conditions.

Consequently, the oils developed for these engines have different lubrication formulas.

The Yamalube Advantage
Yamalube is simply the finest oil you can buy for your Yamaha. Each oil is designed, formulated, and developed by the same engineering team that designed the engine. No one else knows Yamaha engines as well as we do. Yamalube uses the best available oil technology in all of its oil formulations. We choose the finest ingredients to put in our oils, and match our oils to the need of your engine.

Yamalube is extensively tested in the field and laboratory, so you can be confident you’re getting a quality lubricant every time you choose Yamalube for your Yamaha. It’s one way we can help ensure your Yamaha delivers years of trouble-free performance.

The Yamalube Future
Many of the Yamalube product you see in this brochure were not available just a few years ago. That’s because our goal is to provide the perfect oil for your Yamalube now and in the future. The Yamalube you buy today is formulated to deliver the lubrication required today. That is particularly important in an age where fuels and technologies continually evolve. While perfection is a lofty goal, you can rest assured that we will be ever vigilant in providing what you’d expect from Yamaha: oil on the market.

Yamalube 4M Meets FC-W Certification – All Models

As four-stroke engines have been growing in popularity with boaters, they have increased in size and taken on more demanding duty cycles. Despite this fact, four-stroke outboards have been forced to use automotive or automotive derived lubricants due to the lack of a marine standard.

The NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) has acted on this and developed the FC-W rating. Lubricants meeting this new standard far surpass automotive standards in inhibiting corrosion, foaming and viscosity breakdown, and provides superior lubricity even when diluted with fuel. All these conditions are widely experienced in the marine environment.

Yamalube 4M FC-W motor oil meets the NMMA FC-W rating. Using it will ensure proper lubrication and corrosion protection for your customers’ engines. Avoid lubricants that do not carry the NMMA’s FC-W logo.

Benefits of Yamalube 4M FC-W

High levels of bearing protection, far more than in automotive oil.

High resistance to foaming under high speeds, foaming that can break down the oil’s ability to provide lubricity.

Superior lubrication even when fuel dilution is present. This is particularly important when boating in cold water under low speed trolling conditions.

Far superior rust and corrosion protection, thanks to additives not available in today’s automotive oils.

Designed and tested by the marine industry for the marine industry.

For your convenience, Yamalube 4-M FC-W is available for order using the same part numbers as the previous Yamalube 4-M.

Smart Tabs, Smart Tabs II, Mobster Tabs

No Hydraulics – No Electric Switches
Nauticus trim tabs are completely automatic requiring no operator adjustments while under way.

The nitrogen Gas Actuator provides LIFT at the stern of the boat by holding the trim plate down during acceleration. The amount of LIFT is determined by the actuator load rating and the trim plate adjustment, which is done at the time of installation.

Speed Regulation
Nauticus trim tabs start in a downward angle to maximize lift at slow speeds. As the boat accelerates, the water pushes up on the trim plates providing lift to the stern which minimizes bow rise, and allows the boat to plane quickly.

Once the water pressure exceeds the actuator load rating (maximum lift) the trim plates move up to horizontal position eliminating any drag.

Boat Stabilizers
Even when cruising smart tabs continue to work like shock absorbers. The constant adjustment to sea conditions allow SMART TABS to provide remarkable stability in turns, while crossing waves, while cruising, and while running at maximum speeds. No more sliding, porpoising, or chine walking.

One of a Kind
The unique system is the only one of its kind in the industry. The internal valve system is truly “smart” in its design of controlling your boats performance.

Kills Salt. Pure and Simple

Salt-Away is an engine flush for inboard, outboard, I/O and personal watercraft engines, and an exterior salt removing treatment for any surface where salt corrosion and build-up is a problem.

Salt Away is a water-based formula of surface active agents, rust inhibitors, corrosion blockers, and other properties which breaks the bond of salt crystals from any surface.

Mixed with water, Salt-Away washes away the salt and if not rinsed off, leaves a protective film on the surface to prevent rust and corroding, and protects it against future salt corrosion.

It is easy to apply by using Salt-Away’s special mixing unit for bigger jobs or the ready-to-use spray bottles for smaller jobs. Items also may be immersed in a mixture of Salt-Away and fresh water or salt water and no rusting or corrosion will occur.

Salt-Away stops corrosion before it starts.

Boaters
The engine flush and exterior wash concentrate ( Mixing Unit included) will help remove salt from your engine and prevent rusting and corroding. Also excellent for exterior wash. Spray nozzle and mixing unit required. Spray on. Rinse off. No scrubbing or brushes required! Safe to use on all surfaces. Removes salt and protects against corrosion. Saves hours of cleaning.

Boat Trailers
Spray Engine Flush Concentrate and Exterior wash with mixing unit and spray nozzle. For best results, spray trailer with Salt-Away immediately after launching boat and again after loading boat onto trailer. Salt-Away is also ideal for flushing the brake system on your trailer.

Steersman Stainless Steel Steering Guard

The Steersman Steering Guard is a high pressure seal and grease fitting for lubricating your steering cable, it lubricates and seals to prevent problems and extend cable life.

Tired of sticky steering or completely frozen steering? The grease fitting on most motors do not lube the steering system, so there is no seal between your steering system and the harsh elements in our marine environment.

Installing the Steersman eliminated tight, sticky steering an prevented freeze up. We have found this steering guard to be an easy and important addition to your outboards steering system. It fits most outboards. We have installed many of these over the years and have found them to be very beneficial in adding life to your current or new steering system.

The Steersman is easily installed by most mechanically inclined or we would be happy to install it for you.

Megaware Keelguard

Keelguard is a product we have been using for several years now with great results. Here are just a few of the benefits and highlights:

Sandy beaches, rocks and shores act like a grinding disk to a boat bottom and keels, wearing down the gel-coat. Once the gel-coat is worn away, serious damage begins. When moisture gets into the fiberglass laminate, it begins swelling and collecting moisture, effecting the boats performance and results in a wet and weak laminate. The moisture travels throughout the hull and continually rots the inside fiberglass laminates, stringers, and floor until the entire hull is destroyed. This can be prevented with the simple installation of Megaware Keelguard.

No special skills or tools required to install, the boat just needs to be clean and the temperature at least 65 degrees, and it may be applied to a worn keel.

Let us order Keelguard for you this spring, all we need is the length of your boat and the color of your choice. We can install for you, or it could be a good do-it-yourself project.
