Sterndrive – Service/Tune Engine and Outdrive
1. Engine
- Check engine alignment
- Check plug wires
- Check distributor cap and rotor * Run salt-away through engine
- Check anodes
- Change pencil zinc in heat exchanger
- Check engine compression
- Check engine timing
- Check carburetor for leaks and operation
- Run engine tuner through engine
- Clean flame arrestor
- Check carb adjustment
- Set idle speed
- Check belt condition and tension
- Change oil and filter
- Check coolant
- Check and top off power steering fluid
- Spray engine with corrosion block
2. Lower Unit
- Check gearlube (replace if dirty or contaminated)
- Pressure & vacuum test gearcase
- Lubricate u-joints & gimble bearings
- Replace gasket & seals & install outdrive
- Remove prop and lubricate splines
- Check for fish line behind prop
- Check condition of bellows
- Hook up speedo pick-up
3. Fuel System
- Change filters and check operation of choke
4. Electrical System
- Check battery and charge
5. Boat
- Check drain plug
- Check all boat accessories
6. Trailer
- Check trailer lights
- Air tires
- Grease trailer bearings
- Lube winch, coupler and tongue jack
Sterndrive Service/Tune Engine and Outdrive Estimated Costs:
- All But Bravo – 4.5 to 5.5 Hours Labor plus parts
- Bravo Only – 6.0 to 7.0 Hours Labor plus parts
Sterndrive – Outdrive Service
1. Lower Unit
- Remove outdrive
- Check lube (replace if dirty or contaminated)
- Pressure & vacuum test gearcase
- Lubricate u-joints & gimble bearings
- Check engine alignment
- Replace gasket & seals & install outdrive
- Run salt-away through engine
- Check anodes
- Clean gear lube monitor and fill * Remove prop and lubricate splines
- Check for fish line behind prop
- Check condition of bellows
- Hook up speedo pick-up
2. Boat
- Check drain plug
3. Trailer
- Air tires
- Grease trailer bearings * Lube winch, coupler and tongue jack
Sterndrive Outdrive Service Estimated Costs:
- All But Bravo – 1.89 Hours – $179.55 + $165.25 = $344.80
- Bravo Only – 2.3 Hours – $218.50 + $165.25 = $383.75

- Check coolant (If fresh water cooled)
- Check and top off power steering fluid
- Check heat pencil zinc in heat exchanger

- Spray engine with corrosion block
- Check gearlube level

- Change fuel filters
- Check operation of choke

- Check drain plug

- Lube wench, coupler and tongue jack

- Check gearlube – replace if dirty
- Check for water in lube
- Pressure and vacuum check if water present
- Remove prop and check for fish line
- Grease propshaft splines
- Check shifting
3. Fuel System
- Check for leaks and operation
- Clean and/or replace fuel filters
