Outboard – Basic Winterize
1. Engine
- Check Compression
- Run & flush
- Spray decarbonizer through engine
- Seal internal engine parts
- Spray engine with rust preventative
- Grease all fittings
- Check for proper operating temperature
- Test all safety features & check tilt operation
2. Lower Unit
- Change gearlube
- Remove prop, grease spline, check condition
- Check water pump output
- Check & replace anodes as needed
3. Fuel System
- Treat fuel with fuel conditioner
- Adjust carb if needed
- Check synchronization
- Check condition of fuel system
- Inspect fuel lines and filters
4. Electrical System
Outboard Basic Winterization Estimated Costs:
- 1 – 15hp: 1.0 to 1.5 Hours Labor plus parts
- 18 – 40hp: 1.5 to 2.0 Hours Labor plus parts
- 50 – 235hp: 2.0 to 3.5 Hours Labor plus parts
Four-Stroke engines add up to an additional Hour of Labor depending upon horsepower
